Just announced on Amazon is J.K. Rowling’s latest book, The Casual Vacancy. It’s not slated for release until the 27th September 2012 but that’s not stopping it from climbing up the best seller lists. If you have a Kindle you can pre-order your copy and it will be automatically delivered to your device as soon as it’s released.
So, what’s it about and is it worth the hype?
Well, obviously noone has read it yet,but it’s at #17 in the bestsellers list on Amazon already!!! J.K. Rowling really does have a very loyal following! This book is aimed at an adult audience (I know of just a few kiddies that are going to be very disappointed about that!). The book is based around a character called Barry Fairweather (not too far removed from ‘Harry’?) who lives, works and dies in the small town of Pagford. The residents of Pagford are left in shock, nothing like this has ever happened in their quaint little town. But as the investigation digs deeper, arguments and conflicts are discovered with outwright war being declared between neighbours, husband and wives, teenages and parents…if fact I’m not sure that anyone actually gets along with anyone else! Politics are thrown into the mix for good measure as the town tries to elect a new councillor to take over from poor deceased Barry…expect passion, duplicity and many, many unexpected revelations.
The Kindle version costs a whopping $19.99! (admittedly this is still less than the hardcover price of $21.00) Amazon are stating that this price is outside of their control and has been set by the publisher.
