Every day, we all size up each other: It’s one of the most important things we ever do. Making Sense of People provides the scientific frameworks and tools we need to improve our intuition, and assess people more consciously, systematically, and effectively.
I was a little sceptical of this book, mainly because I’m sceptical of all books in this type of genre, but I have to say I was utterly fascinated! The book gives us tools to “decode” the people we meet: how to identify personality patterns and traits, gain insight into how genes influence personality, and learn how a person’s background and context might affect his/her brain, and therefore, behavior.
The book focuses on two main points, classifying human personality (using 5 categories which are explained), and how personality is formed. The book also provides a link to an online test that classifies which category you (or someone else, if you fill it out with them in mind) falls.
I feel I should point out that this book is not a step-by-step “how to” guide about reading people or people’s personalities, but it is an interesting read if you are interested in personality differences and gives food for thought about how those personalities are affected by genes and upbringing.
Would I pay $25.99 for this book? No, but for free it’s a no-brainer!
The Official Words…
Leading neuroscientist Samuel H. Barondes explains the research behind each standard personality category: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness. He shows readers how to use these traits and assessments to do a better job of deciding who they’ll enjoy spending time with, whom to trust, and whom to keep at a distance. Barondes explains:
What neuroscience and psychological research can tell us about how personality types develop and cohere.
The intertwined roles of genes, nurture, and education in personality development.
How to recognize troublesome personality patterns such as narcissism, sociopathy, and paranoia.
How much a child’s behavior predicts their adult personality, and how personality stabilizes in young adulthood.
How to assess integrity, fairness, wisdom, and other traits related to morality.
What genetic testing may (or may not) teach us about personality in the future.
General strategies for getting along with people, with specific tactics for special circumstances.

It’s another Cinderella/Twilight clone, in fact, it was written first of all as fan-fiction in honor of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight novels, but this one’s definitely for grown-ups!
Women are being credited with causing an enormous increase in the sales of ebooks. In the erotic genre alone sales have increased by over 30%.
So, what is causing this phenomenen?
Well, personally I attribute it to a few things:
Technology is moving so fast it’s difficult to keep up!!
Check out what LG have been up to!!! A flexible ereader screen!
Apparently this screen has been developed so it’s bendy to help make it more robust and to be able to withstand bumps and bangs…allegedly you can hit it with a hammer and it will still be ok!!!
LG have said they are going to be releasing the screen to the market later this month, but as LG don’t currently make ereaders it’s going to be interesting to see which company they choose to build the ereader featuring this new Electronic Paper Display (EPD).
